Sophisticated simplicity & high-quality materials! You’ve got all the must-haves, but nothing superfluous in this 30m2 space. Our Bregenzerwald craftsmen and the natural material—wood—are the stars of the show here. Christian Greußing from Bezau installed the oak parquet flooring. Kaspar Greber from Bezau built the walls out of brushed silver fir. The bed and slatted frame, made of Swiss stone pine, are from the Hittisau woodworking shop Markus Faißt.
Skillful simplicity & high-quality materials—all the essentials, but nothing superfluous. The natural material—wood—was crafted and installed by local artisans. The restaurant is called Esszimmer. Quite simply because guests are welcomed as if they were at home. That’s all it takes. The Esszimmer is airy, fresh, and bright. Oak parquet flooring, benches, walls, and ceilings made of natural silver fir, and chairs made of maple. The sauna, combined with a sanarium, was designed by architect Hermann Kaufmann. Locally sourced, brushed silver fir and a minimalist design make it a place to unwind. The steam bath is an ideal alternative for anyone who finds the classic Finnish sauna too hot or too dry.
Here, we don’t just cook organic—we also follow the legendary recipes of Hildegard von Bingen. The Bregenzerwald landscape is absolutely stunning—the perfect place to unwind and recharge.
Emanuel, your host, is the fifth-generation owner of the Schwanen, having spent years traveling in New York City and San Francisco. At the Schwanen, you’ll feel and smell the local silver fir, sleep on Swiss stone pine slatted frames, and enjoy the architecture of renowned architect Hermann Kaufmann—from the sauna all the way up to the study under the roof.
Our rooms offer skillful simplicity paired with high-quality materials. All the essentials are there, but nothing superfluous. Our hand-carved Swiss stone pine beds and slatted frames are certainly a highlight.
